A short bus ride, more probing with the handheld GPS; more walking on the dreaded cobblestones; this charming square suddenly appeared in front of us!
Click on the picture to see the charming square!A sign board told me that the church at the square is the Basilica of St. Mary and the square in front constitute the heart of the district of Trastevere.
According to Wikipedia, Trastevere has an interesting past (go to the link) but "Nowadays, Trastevere maintains its character thanks to its narrow cobbled streets lined by medieval houses. At night, both natives and tourists alike flock to its many pubs and restaurants. However, much of the original character of Trastevere remains."We will let the pictures do the talking, is this a charming town for tourists?
The sun is setting, the narrow alleys are bathed in a warm hue, great for photography!

Lovely! very picturesque. The streets are narrow..obviously because the buildings are so old and are made for donkeys and carts,instead of cars.
