On a cool clear afternoon we left Denfert-Rochereau in a taxi for Gare du Nord terminal. We are leaving Paris on the Eurostar.
Eurostar is a high-speed passenger rail service connecting London with Paris and Brussels. All its trains cross under the English Channel via the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France, owned and operated separately by Eurotunnel. - Wikipedia
The taxis in France obviously are allowed to use bus lanes, our cab whizz in and out of bus lanes; bypassing the traffic jams and got us to the Paris North terminal in less than 30 minutes! Merveilleux!
According to Wikipedia:
"Paris Nord (or Gare du Nord, "North Station") is one of the six large terminus stations of the SNCF mainline network for Paris, France. It offers connections with several urban transportation lines, including Paris Métro and RER. By the number of travelers, at around 180 million per year, it is the busiest railway station in Europe.
The Gare du Nord handles trains to Northern France, as well as to various international destinations such as Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The station complex was designed by French architect Jacques Hittorff and built between 1861 and 1864."
Since we still have a few hours to kill before our Eurostar depart for London, we store our luggages in a locker and went shopping at Boulevard de la Madeleine.
Located near the metro stations: Madeleine or Opéra. The Boulevard de la Madeleine is one of the four 'grands boulevards' in Paris, a chain running east west and also including boulevard de la Madeleine, Boulevard des Capucines, Boulevard des Italiens and Boulevard Montmartre. - Wikipedia -
More shoes for Le General and Ming-N!!
Then I notice a Zwilling J.A. Henckels shop and I remember the precision nail clipper my dear father owned and I suddenly wanted one!
And I bought one! My wife think I am a bit loco to pay €99.00 for a nail clipper! Ha ha ha...
So it is Au Revoir to Paris!
I will miss this fascinating, elegant; historic; sophisticated; stylish; memorable; cultural and artistic city!
I will miss Paris, why... I might even miss those pickpockets ;)
Dinner on the Eurostar train, heading for London. I was amazed how quite the train is!
